According to the State of Obesity report in 2017 Texas has the 14th highest adult obesity rate in the nation, the 7th highest for youth ages 10 to 17 and the 5th highest among high school students. Texas's adult obesity rate is currently 33.0% up from 21.7% in 2000. One out of three people in the US are obese not overweight but obese. Obesity is so out of control in our nation that in 2013 it was labeled a disease.

Obesity related health issues include diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and cancer to name just a few. The diabetes rate among adults in Texas is the 10th highest in the nation. You might remember, the old name for Type 2 was “adult-onset diabetes.” That name is no longer valid due to the increasing number of children with Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes has become the nation’s leading epidemic.

How do we combat this deadly disease, now called “diabesity” by the American Medical Association? The answer is through centers like Results Weight Loss.
